In Solidarität mit Ihrem Kampf für Gesundheit und Gerechtigkeit
Sehr geehrter Herr Abu-Jamal,
Wir schreiben ihnen heute, um erneut unsere tiefe und ungebrochene Solidarität zum Ausdruck zu bringen. Jahrzehntelang haben viele von uns im deutschen Bundestag Ihren Fall verfolgt, in der Überzeugung, dass ihnen in einem politisch und rassistisch motiviertem Gerichtsverfahren 1982 eine gerechte Behandlung verweigert wurde. Diese Überzeugung hat sich über die Jahre nunmehr gefestigt.
Ihr Fall war und ist ein bedeutsames Symbol für den Kampf gegen Unterdrückung und für die unveräußerlichen Menschenrechte.
Mit großer Besorgnis lesen wir heute die Berichte über Ihren sich zusehends verschlechternden Gesundheitszustand, und das Ringen um angemessene Gesundheitsversorgung. Das Verweigern von notwendiger Behandlung werten wir als eine äußerst ernstzunehmende Verletzung der Menschenwürde. Es ist eine grausame Aufrechterhaltung des Unrechts, dem sie seit über 40 Jahren ausgesetzt sind.
Ihr Kampf um Gesundheit ist ein Kampf um Ihr Leben und wir stehen an Ihrer Seite. Und so schließen wir uns den internationalen Aufrufen an und fordern für Sie unverzüglichen und bedingungslosen Zugang zu umfangreicher medizinischer Betreuung von unabhängigem Personal, sowie Ihre sofortige Freilassung. Nach Jahrzenten des Unrechts ist dies die einzig mögliche Lösung.
Ihr Mut und Ihr Widerstand im Angesicht solch langwierigen Leides und Unrechts sind eine immense Inspiration. Bitte seien Sie gewiss: Sie sind nicht vergessen. Ihr Kampf ist bis heute Ansporn für das Streben nach Gerechtigkeit und Gleichheit, sowohl hier in Deutschland als auch weltweit. Wir stehen weiterhin fest an Ihrer Seite.

In solidarity with your fight for health and justice
Dear Mr. Abu-Jamal,
We are writing to you today to reaffirm our deep and unwavering solidarity. For decades, many of us in the German Parliament have followed your case, convinced that you were denied justice in a politically and racially biased trial in 1982. This conviction has done nothing but harden.
Your case has always been a powerful symbol of the fight against oppression and for fundamental human rights.
With grave concern, we now read the urgent reports about your deteriorating health and the struggle to receive adequate medical care. We consider the denial of necessary treatment to be a serious violation of human dignity. It is a cruel continuation of the injustice you have been subjected to for more than forty years.
Your fight for health is a fight for your life, and we stand with you. Therefore, we join the international calls to demand your immediate and unconditional access to comprehensive medical care from independent physicians, as well as your immediate release from prison. After decades of injustice, this is the only possible resolution.
Your courage and resistance in the face of such extended hardship and injustice are an immense inspiration. Please know that you are not forgotten. Your struggle to this day motivates the fight for justice and equality here in Germany as well as all around the world. We continue to stand firmly with you.
